447 Pantalones Todos Santos-0307Todos Santos Cuchumatán

Classic trousers from the town of Todos Santos Cuchumatán. The men in this town proudly wear these classic red and white striped pantalones with their traditional clothing. Todos Santos Cuchumatán is one of the few regions left in Guatemala where the men continue to wear their traditional Maya clothing instead of opting for the less expensive ‘western’ clothing. These pants measure 33″ at the waist, 25″ at the inseam, and 38″ from the waist to the floor.

This classic style pair of pants is made from a similar woven cotton fabric that is used for the women’s huipiles from the same region. It is a medium/heavy weight material with a denim feel. There are two front pockets (one with a coin pocket) and two rear pockets, all with rivets added for strength. The inside of the seat has a cotton panel added for reinforcement. These pants are generous in the legs. It appears that the waist has been taken in, and perhaps has a small amount of room to back out.

Please note that this item can be combined with the camisa and sombrero from Todos Santos Cuchumatán that we have for sale, to have a man’s complete outfit from the pueblo! Great photo of how they are generally worn here.

Additional photos can be found here.

These pantalones are in very good used condition. There are a couple of loose threads along the lower edge from use. There are a couple of very tiny stains. The fabric is still strong and crisp. The front fly button and zipper work perfectly. These pants are a unique item not often seen offered for sale!
