Faja-Santa Maria de Jesús #193
Santa Maria de Jesús
Beautiful faja (belt) made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This unique faja measures 88″ long, not including the fringe which measures and additional 5” on each end. It also measures 1 1/2” wide. The stitched bird design runs approximately 34” of the total length.
This faja is woven in white with a tiny purple line that runs each side. It is decorated with a free-hand machine embroidered design. The design is squares that contain a different bird in each in beautiful pastel colors.
This faja is in very good used condition with little sign of wear. Perhaps a few loose threads.
