San Antonio Aguas Calientes #214

San Antonio Aguas Calientes

Elegant and spectacular tzute from San Antonio Aguas Calientes. This area is known for its incredibly detailed weaving that is frequently copied in other nearby towns. This beautiful tzute measures 31 1/2″ wide and 40″ long. These tzutes are generally made by the young women once they become of age to be married. It is then generally given as gift to the mother-in-law on the wedding day. Due to the incredibly detailed style of weaving, the production of these tzutes takes a very long time, sometimes up to a year.

This spectacular tzute has the traditional figures of birds, flowers, fish, fruit, and even a couple of tiny turtles. The weaving is done in the very fine and detailed San Antonio style where the pattern is identical on both sides. The weaving is incredibly fine, causing this tzute to be wonderfully soft to the touch. This is a perfect example of the classic San Antonio Aguas Calientes design in excellent condition. This tzute has a randa (seam where the two panels join) that is accented with machine done free-hand coordinating design. There is also an accent randa that runs across the tzute. Both of the randas are backed in a blue and green color, creating the image of a cross on the backside of this tzute.

The colors are a full spectrum of green, blue, orange, red, yellow, purple and much more. The design is woven on a deep purple woven cotton base.

This tzute is in very good used condition.
