Description

Unique hand-woven and hand-embroidered faja (belt) made in the town of Santa Maria de Jesús (but of a generic design). Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 91″ long, with an additional 7″ of tassel on each end. It measures 2.5” wide. The stitched flower design runs approximately 34” of the total length.

This faja is woven with a black background color with burgundy stripes along each edge and is accented with a fully hand woven design. The flowers are woven into the belt in a complimenting spectrum of muted colors of oranges and purples with green leaves.

This faja is in fair used condition with some wear. There are two areas where the flower design is worn through and some knotting of the tassel ends. A lovely vintage item!
