Description

Unique hand-woven and embroidered faja (belt) from the Chichicastenango region. Fajas are used as the belt to hold up the corte (skirt) in the mayan traje or outfit. This beautiful faja measures 88″ long, with an additional 4″ – 6″ of tassel on each end. It measures 2 1/4” wide. The woven flower and bird design runs approximately 39” of the total length.

This faja is woven with a dark charcoal and white background color and is accented with a fully hand embroidered design of flowers and birds in rich colors of purple and various others. The embroidery is thick and beautiful!

This faja is in good used condition with a few loose threads and wear on the tassels and the embroidered flowers. A lovely vintage item!
