Vintage huipil from the town of Chichicastenango. This striking huipil measures 32″ across the shoulders, 32″ across the chest, 24 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is circular and measures 5 1/2″ in diameter (very tight fit over average head – may require alterations to fit). The sides are stitched closed creating armholes.
This stunning huipil is full of striking eagles throughout the bodice on both sides. It is woven on an indigo-blue medium weight cotton blend background with tiny purple stripes. The neckline is decorated with the radiating sun, traditional for the town of Chichicastenango. The head and sleeve openings are trimmed in lovely velveteen.
This huipil is in great used condition, with little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. A beautiful and unique vintage work of art!
