Description
Very detailed smaller woven vintage huipil from the village of Nebaj. This striking huipil measures 25″ across the shoulders, 24″ across the chest, and 24″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is measures 4″ x 4″ with an additional 2″ snap-closed slit to aid in pulling over the head (snug fit over adult head). The sides have had the stitching removed so that the huipil opens completely. The sides and be easily restitched to create arm holes.
This huipil features extensive and elaborate weaving of geomorphic figures including various birds, deer, and people that are representative for the area of Nebaj. The colors are a variety of greens, burgundy, and blues. The background is white nubby cotton.
This vintage huipil is in good used condition with a little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads, and few very faint stains, and some slight rust on the snap. A very elegant piece, perfect for display or wear!
