Description
Lovely huipil full of deer, rivers, and Mayan stars! This huipil is from the town of Tactic in the region of Alta Verapaz. This lovely huipil measures 32 1/2” across the shoulders, 30″ across the chest, and 22 1/2″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is circular and measures approximately 5.75” in diameter.
This two-panel huipil is colorful with its mayan geomorphic designs throughout the body. The weaving is accented with traditional deer, rivers, and mayan stars in the bodice. The colors are olive green, peach, pink, and purple. There is much use of arti-seda thread in this huipil. The background fabric is a medium weight black striped cotton.
This huipil is in excellent used condition, with little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads. A fantastic textile for display or wear!
