Description
This striking vintage huipil is from the area of Tecpán and is full of flowers and birds. This well worn huipil measures 29″ across the shoulders, 28″ across the chest, and 24″ from shoulders to lower edge. The head opening is diamond shaped and measures 5.5″ along each of the four sides. The sides have been sewn to create armholes.
This huipil has the more modern style for Tecpán and is beautiful with its bright colors and hand weaving that features flowers and birds with zigzag rivers along the lower part of the design. The colors are shades of pinks, blues and reds and greens. The background fabric is heavier woven black cotton blend.
This huipil is in fair used condition with some signs of wear, a few loose threads throughout the design, and a few places where the weaving has worn through creating a hole. The lower edge has some areas of open weave as well. A lovely well used vintage textile!
