Description
Not-often seen corte or skirt from the Coban region of Guatemala. This is a woven corte, or mayan skirt that is gathered by a string in the waist and tied to hold it on.
This super-soft lovely vintage corte is woven in an indigo blue color with very pale pink accent stripes.
Fabric from cortes can be used in a variety of ways besides just for wearing, such as table covers, bed covers, curtains, throw pillows, clothing, etc. due to the heavier and more durable nature of the weaving.
This very large corte measures 32″ from waist to hem and 110″ long (doubled) wide. Or a large run of fabric of approximately 220″ x 32″ if opened up completely – over 6 yards of fabric!
Fabric from cortes can be used in a variety of ways besides just for wearing, such as table covers, bed covers, curtains, throw pillows, clothing, etc. due to the heavier and more durable nature of the weaving.
This corte is in good used condition, with some sign of wear, including worn areas along the hem and a few loose threads. There is a smaller area (about 1″) that looks to have been bleached, leaving it white. This part hides well in the skirt when it is gathered for wearing.
