Very large, one of a kind striking vintage folk-art huipil blouse from the San Andres Xecul region in Guatemala.
Can be worn or stunningly displayed in your home!
Vintage huipil from the village of San Andres Xecul. This huipil is beautiful with its extensive hand-guided machine embroidery, full of animals! It is sewn on a light/medium weight cotton blend commercial fabric in a lovely pink color. The collar is decorated with many animals radiating from the opening and also on the sleeve openings. The huipil measures 33″* across the shoulders, 33″* across the chest, and 28″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is circular and measures 6 1/2″ in diameter (slightly snug fit over average sized head). The sides are stitched closed creating armholes. *There is stitching that runs over the shoulders from front to back that makes this huipil more narrow. If this stitching is removed, it would add approximately 6″ or a bit more to the width of this huipil.
This huipil is in excellent used condition, with little sign of wear, a few loose threads and a very tiny/faint stain. A beautiful and unique vintage work of art!
