Beautiful classic huipil from Chajul in a deep chocolate-brown color! This super lovely huipil measures 26″ across the shoulders, 25″ across the chest, and 21″ – 23″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded), the panels are not the same length. The neck opening is more or less circular and measures 6″ in diameter (snug fit over adult head). The sides have been sewn to create armholes.
LOVE this elegant single panel huipil with stunning weaving that features geomorphic animals across the garment in a variety of colored thread. This super soft, classic huipil is lovely with traditional geomorphic animal figures woven in stunning colors including artiseda threads on a rich chocolate-brown with wide red stripes cotton blend background. The design is classic for the town of Chajul with figures across the bodice on both sides; each side is a different color pattern. The shoulders and sleeves are accented with a coordinating geomorphic design. The threads in the designs are mostly lustrina with some use of metallic threads. The background fabric is medium weight, super soft woven cotton with fantastic weight and drape.
This huipil is in great used condition, with little visible sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads, and some stretched areas in the lower section. A spectacular piece of art that can either be worn or displayed!
