Vintage huipil from the village of Quetzaltenango. This striking huipil measures 40″ across the shoulders, 39″ across the chest, 29″ from the neckline to the bottom edges (folded). The neck opening is circular and measures 5 1/2″ in diameter (very tight fit over average head – may require alterations to fit). The sides are stitched closed creating armholes.
This huipil is beautiful with its striking colors throughout in various shades of purples and golds. It is woven on a medium weight cotton blend white background. The collar is decorated with beautiful hand embroidery of flowers and a sweet little lamb on each side. There is a lovely hand stitched colorful randa that joins the panels.
This huipil is in very good used condition, with little sign of wear, perhaps a few loose threads and some faint staining in the lower white section. A beautiful and unique vintage work of art!
